Built for elders first
Accessibility
Updated July 31, 2026
Most software treats accessibility as a checklist. Kinectyd treats it as the product. Our first user is a 92-year-old who has never owned a smartphone, and every screen is designed for her before anyone else.
How the product is built
- One action per screen; no menus, settings, usernames, or passwords for residents.
- Large tap targets (buttons sized for tremor and reduced dexterity) and large, high-contrast text on bright, low-glare backgrounds.
- Auto-answer, with consent, so a call from an approved loved one can connect on its own after a gentle countdown.
- Designed for cognitive impairment: repetition is treated as normal, and nothing punishes a wrong tap.
- Calls stay full-screen with faces, never small tiles.
Standards
Across our web pages and staff tools we aim for WCAG 2.1 AA: semantic structure, keyboard operability, visible focus, and contrast ratios at or above requirements (resident screens target stronger, 7:1 contrast).
